Capabilities
What we build
Three kinds of engagement, all starting from the same place: a conversation about what the system has to do and what it has to work alongside. You get a written scope and a price before anything is committed.
Most of this work is integration: existing systems joined up, with information moving between them.
Process
How an engagement runs
The same five stages regardless of which capability the work sits under. The point of the shape is that you can stop after stage two if the answer turns out to be no, having paid for a scope rather than a half-built system.
-
Conversation
A call or a visit. What the process looks like now, where the time goes, what you have already tried, and what you would need to see for this to have been worth doing. No charge, and no obligation at the end of it.
-
Scope and price
A written document setting out what will be built, what it will not do, what it depends on from your side, and a fixed price. If the honest answer is that an existing product does this well enough, we will say so here rather than after you have paid us.
-
Build in phases
Each phase ends with something that runs, not a status update. You see working software at each stage, which means a wrong assumption surfaces in week two rather than at handover.
-
Handover
Source, documentation and whatever access is needed to run it without us. For desktop tools that includes the installer and a written guide. For anything hosted it includes the accounts and the credentials, in your name.
-
Support, if you want it
Optional and priced separately, never bundled in to inflate the headline. Plenty of clients take the handover and run it themselves, which is a perfectly good outcome.
Commercials
How this is priced
Bespoke work is quoted per engagement. A published day rate would tell you almost nothing useful, because the same number of days buys very different amounts depending on what has to be integrated and what the compliance position is.
What we can commit to is the shape. Discovery and scope are priced and delivered as their own stage, so you are buying a decision document rather than an open-ended commitment. The build is quoted fixed against that scope. Changes to the scope are re-quoted rather than absorbed quietly and then argued about later.
Scorpion AI Tooling Ltd is not currently VAT registered, so quoted prices are the prices.
Questions we get asked
How do you price work?
Custom software and AI integration are scoped and quoted per engagement, because the honest answer to what a bespoke system costs depends entirely on what it has to do. AI enablement is priced per automation once a walkthrough has established what there is to build. You get a written scope and a fixed price before anything is committed.
Do we own what you build?
Yes. Custom software is delivered with the source, and AI enablement work is built inside your own accounts so you hold it directly. Ownership is written into the contract rather than left to be assumed.
What happens if we want to take it elsewhere later?
You can. That is part of why we document the way we do. We would rather be kept on because the work is good than because leaving is difficult.
How long does a build take?
It depends on scope, and we will not know until the first stage is done. What we can commit to at the outset is the shape: discovery and scope first, then a build in phases with something working at the end of each one, so progress is visible rather than promised.
Will you work with our existing systems?
Usually, yes. Most of this work is integration rather than replacement. Where a system has no usable interface we will say so early, because that changes the cost and sometimes the answer.
Are you a big enough team for this?
We are a small operation and we say so before you ask. That suits work where one person holding the whole picture is an advantage, and it does not suit work that needs several people on site full time. We will tell you which of those we think yours is.
Start with a conversation
Tell us what the system has to do and what it has to work alongside. You will get a written scope and a price before anything is committed, and your enquiry goes straight to the person who would build it.
