Running with a pilot operator. How this is sold has not been settled yet, and we would rather say so than imply it is further along than it is.
What it does
- Vehicles, drivers, insurance and policies in one record set.
- A compliance diary answering one question: what is overdue, or about to be, across every vehicle and every driver.
- DVSA walkaround checklists across six vehicle classes, ten vehicle types and 88 checks.
- Defects, odometer readings, fuel, servicing, journeys and costs.
- Exports (vehicle record, compliance report, defect report, mileage claim) as Word plus PDF/A, carrying the operator’s own identity with no Scorpion branding.
Limits worth knowing
- HMRC approved mileage relief applies only to a driver’s own vehicle, so business miles in a company van are reported as a running cost rather than presented as a claim.
- Delivery is by arrangement. Code signing, payment and licence activation are not in place yet.
Design decisions
How it is built
The decisions below cost more to build than the obvious alternative. They are the reason the tool holds up in use, so they are worth reading before you compare it against something cheaper.
A blank date is reported as a gap, not as compliance
A vehicle with no MOT date recorded is not the same as one whose MOT is in date, and the software never treats them the same way. It is the blanks an examiner asks about, so the blanks are what it surfaces.
A serious defect grounds the vehicle, and clearing it does not release it
Recording a major or dangerous defect takes the vehicle off the road immediately. Rectifying the defect does not put it back: a person returns it to service in the application. Returning a vehicle to service is not reachable through the AI interface.
Nothing derived is stored twice
There is no "current mileage" field. Mileage, fuel consumption, next service and cost per mile are all arithmetic over recorded odometer readings, and readings only ever go forwards. That means the figures cannot drift out of agreement with the records behind them.
